Graveside services for Ronald David “Bubba” Johns of Gilmer, Texas, will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2018, at 10:00 A.M. at Sunset Memorial Park with Rev. Matt Smith officiating. Mr. Johns passed away Monday, September 17, in Longview, Texas.

Born in Waco, Texas, on June 13, 1941 to J.L. and Sarah (Reed) Johns, Bubba lived most of his life in Gilmer, Texas. Bubba graduated from Gilmer High School with the class of 1959, and was an avid Buckeye football fan. After graduating with a BBA from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1963, Bubba married the love of his life, Sandra Friddle Johns on December 20, 1963, and shared his life with her for almost 55 years. After graduating pre-flight at U.S. Naval Air Station Pensacola, Bubba proudly served as an operations officer and a navigator in the United States Navy for eleven years. Returning to Gilmer in 1976, he worked in banking and real estate. He was a member of Bethesda Masonic Lodge #142 A.F. & A.M., and a former member of Gilmer Rotary.

Bubba is survived by his wife, Sandy Johns; his children Karen Breazeale and her husband Brigadier General John Breazeale, Kimberly Clohessy and her husband Steve Clohessy, Jeff Johns and his wife Leighann Johns; his grandchildren Ryker Hall, Rhett Hall and fiancé Morgan Jones, Finley Cohen, Madison Breazeale, Harper Cohen, Garrett Johns, Boone Cohen, Cooper Johns, and Keanon Breazeale; his mother, Sarah Johns; his sister, Linda Harrison and her husband Bill Harrison. He is preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Johns, and his father.
