Alvin Clarence Wilkerson

Funeral services for Alvin Clarence Wilkerson, 90, of Gilmer, Texas will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Bro. Donnie Chamberlain officiating. Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery in Upshur County.

Mr. Wilkerson passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2016 in Gilmer and was born on September 30, 1926 in Wood County, Texas to James and Georgia Wilkerson. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, a welder and a member of Latch Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Wilkerson married Fayrene Langford on August 3, 1946.

He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Fayrene Wilkerson of Latch; sons, Terry Wilkerson and wife Karen, of Cooper, Texas and Tony Wilkerson and his wife Susan, of Maine; daughter, Priscilla McCauley and her husband Leon, of Gilmer; brother, Willie Jean Wilkerson of New Diana; sixteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Franklin Wilkerson and Georgia Anne Wilkerson; daughter, Brenda Kay Morris, and sister, Ollie Gill.

No formal visitation will be held.
