Services for Mr. Alvin Jr. Dyke, 84, of Gilmer, Texas will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Gilmer First United Methodist Church with Reverend Richard Laster officiating. Burial will follow at Gilmer City Cemetery under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Mr. Dyke passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2013. He was born on February 25, 1929, in Talco, Texas to Clarence Alvin and Nora Jackson Dyke. Mr. Dyke served in the U. S. Army and on February 14, 1976, he married Patsy Ruth Abney. Mr. Dyke was a Tool Pusher for over 40 years for W. B. Hinton Drilling Company. He was a member of Gilmer First United Methodist Church, a former member of the Gilmer Kiwanis, a member of the Reflection Dance Club and the Yam Jammers Dance Club. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Ruth Dyke of Gilmer; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Lillie Dyke of Cookeville, TN, Michael L. and Vickie Dyke of Daingerfield, Randy Dale and Paula Dyke of Mt. Pleasant; daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and Gregg Kelley of Searcy, Ark; Teresa and Gerardo Yuen of El Paso, Pam and Roger Shipp ; brother, Doyle Dyke of Sherman; sisters, Linda Sue Goates of Garland, Mavis Buchanan of Mt. Pleasant and Anita Joyce Murphy of Pocahontas, Ark.; 15 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and 1 great "great grandchild. Pallbearers are Michael C. Dyke, Brian Dyke, Joshua Dyke, Tom Davis, Jacob Davis and Trevor Ragland. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
