Anthony Thomas Lee McGaughy

Mr. Anthony Thomas Lee McGaughy, age 42, of Gilmer, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, in Gilmer. Anthony was born on July 12, 1976, in Haleyville, Alabama. He graduated from Lancaster High School, and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving honorably from 1994 until 1998, where he achieved the rank of Corporal. Anthony was of the Baptist faith and member of the First Baptist Church of Kennedale. He owned and operated Warriors of Texas Construction in East Texas, employing fellow veterans in the area. He was a member of the American Legion Post #624 in Mansfield. He loved the Marine Corps and helping others through volunteering his time and skills to Habitat for Humanity, veteran organizations, and those in need. Together with one of his closest friends, he was in the process of creating a charity for military police and firefighters, “They Got Your 6”. Anthony was a loving husband and father, who loved spending time with his kids and family. He loved to fish and enjoyed dancing in spite of his two left feet. He had a loving and kind heart as big as Texas, he will be greatly missed, and forever remembered, by all he loved and served in life.

He is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Andrea (Chalmers) McGaughy of Gilmer; mother, Carolyn (Robins) Daniels and husband David of Gilmer; sons, Curran McGaughy, Sutton McGaughy both of Gilmer; daughter, Kaylie Bowen and husband Shane of Norfolk, Va.; step-sons, Hunter Schoppe of Azle, Tim Carey of Alvarado; brother, Randy Joe McGaughy of Tulsa, Ok.; niece, Faith Eagles of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Layton Bowen, Sayler Bowen, Emerson Bowen all of Norfolk, Va.; mother-in-law, Dickie Pirtle of Grand Prairie; father-in-law, Ryan Chalmers and wife Vivian of Omaha, TX.; sister-in-law, Jamie Bossaller and husband Greg of Arlington; niece, Raegyn Bossaller of Tyler; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and beloved friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Roy McGaughy.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Croley Funeral Home of Gilmer. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at Croley Funeral Home of Gilmer, Bro. Bryan Eason officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 PM on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at the DFW National Cemetery 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy. Dallas, TX. 75221
