Graveside services for Mrs. Bessie Fay Hill, 89, of Carthage, formerly of Gilmer will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at the Gilmer City Cemetery with Bro. Charles Johnson officiating. Services are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Mrs. Hill passed away Saturday, May 21, in Carthage. Mrs. Hill was born June 11, 1921, in Upshur County to Sandy Ramsey and Madie Jane Walker Senn. She graduated from Gilmer High School and attended Kilgore College, retired as the assistant Upshur County librarian, was the past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star and a member of First Baptist Church in Gilmer and Central Baptist Church in Carthage. Mrs. Hill had an infectious smile and a contagious laugh, she was an avid baseball fan of the Texas Rangers and Atlanta Braves, enjoyed gardening, fishing and her flowers. Mrs. Hill also enjoyed her close circle of friends with whom she played cards and dominos. Mrs. Hill is survived by her son: Dr. Royce Hill M.D., of Carthage; daughter: Brenda Sue Hill of Decatur, Georgia; sisters and brother-in-law: Mertie Jane Langford of Gilmer, Bertha and Mack McCool of Gilmer, Mary Jo Dean of Gilmer; sister-in-law: Delores Senn of Dallas; grandchildren and spouse: David Hill and wife Sharon Williamson of Longview and Mark Hill of Longview; step-granddaughter: Dreama Walker of Longview; great-grandchild: William J.B. Hill; step great-granddaughters: Kasie Stevens and Lora Ritter; numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Hill Jr.; parents; brother: John Louie Senn; and sister: Eva Bland. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 23, 2011 at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. There will also be a memorial register book at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home in Carthage or online at jimerson-lipsey.com for her friends unable to attend in Gilmer.
