A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Betty Jean Shive, 70 of Longview, will be celebrated Monday, 10:00 A.M, November 10, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Yoakum, Texas with Reverend Mathew Huehlefeld officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home. She was born on July 14, 1944, in Yoakum, Texas to George and Ruby Brewer Hill. Ms. Betty graduated from St. Joseph"s Catholic School, was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary"s Catholic Church in Longview, Texas. Mrs. Shive is survived by her husband, Jerry Shive of Longview; sister, Elaine Motal of Victoria, TX; brothers-in-law, Alan Shive and wife, Rose of Spring, TX, Donnie Shive and wife, Lisa of Tomball, TX., Lyle Shive and wife, Diane of Cedar hill, TX; sisters-in-law, Lynda Tinsley and husband, Michael of Amarillo, Vivian Pigg and husband, Carmen of Hallsville, Pam Sharp and husband, James of Lufkin; uncles, Damon Brewer of Yoakum and Kenneth Brewer of Alexandria, LA; Aunt, Ruth Ermis of Lake Jackson, TX; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Louis Motal, and first husband, Douglas Foxell. Mrs. Shive"s pallbearers will be Alan, Donnie and Lyle Shive, Michael Tinsley, Jay Halepeska and Chris Grimsley. A rosary will be recited on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at 6:00 P.M. at Thiele " Cooper Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 2:00 P.M., November 12, 2014 at St. Mary"s Catholic Church in Longview with Reverend Mark Kusmirck and Reverend Mark Dunn celebrating under the direction of Croley Funeral Home of Gladewater, Texas.
