Betty Jo Jackson Files of Gladewater, Texas age 86, passed from this earth peacefully on June 4, 2020. She was born February 27, 1934 in Van Buren, Arkansas to Minnie and Lewis Jackson. She married Robert L. (Bob) Files and they celebrated over 60 years of marriage.

She was a United States Air Force wife for over 20 years, moving household and kids, making a home at a new base several times in the U.S and abroad. Upon Bob’s retirement from the service, they settled in Gladewater in 1971. Betty was an active member of the community, working and being an excellent employee. She was a Charter Member of Clarksville Baptist Church, where she served tirelessly & ministered to others. She also volunteered with the local Meals on Wheels, and enjoyed serving those in the community. She loved her family dearly and held them close to her heart.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are a daughter, Valerie Files Manley and husband Ray of Gladewater, Texas; sons, Michael Files and wife Barbara of Rockaway Beach, Missouri; Terry Files and wife Deba of Portland, Texas along with 11 Grandchildren, 29 Great Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren. As well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends that mourn her passing but celebrate her life. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Files, as well as her daughter, Rhonda Files Walker, and a granddaughter, Tiffany Denise Files.


The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to Betty’s caregivers, Angela Lobdell and Rhonda Pee, who took such loving care of her.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater and a private family memorial service will take place at a later date.
