Services for Mr. Billie Joe Green, 85 of Gilmer were held 11:00 A.M, Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at First Baptist Church in Gilmer with Reverend Todd Kaunitz and Dr. David L. Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. He was born January 19, 1925, in Upshur County, Texas to Eury and Pearl Langford Green, he passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2010, at Beacon Hospice in Longview. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Thomas Cleo Green, and his beloved wife of 60 years, Emily "Chub" Green. Mr. Green is survived by his son: Joey Green and his wife Kelly of Longview, daughter; Saundra Bork and her husband Kent of Garland, six grandchildren; Michael Henry and his wife Michelle, Lori Armey and her husband David, Danny Henry and his wife Amanda, Cody Green, Tanner Green, Kelsi Green, and eight great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Billie proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy during WWII. He was a Deacon at First Baptist Church and spent many pleasurable hours there volunteering. He was a 50 year member of Bethesda Lodge in Gilmer, through which he was able to help several local children in getting help from Scottish Rite Hospital and meeting their needs at home. Billie retired from Eastman Kodak as a welder. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
