Services for Billy Joe Cannon, 79, of Gladewater, will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. at Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Ken Davis officiating and special speaker Brother Wade Eadie. Billy passed on Saturday, May 17, 2014. Services are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home, Gladewater, Texas. Billy was born on May 5, 1935 in Gladewater, Texas, to Clyde Ramond and Ocile Cannon. He was married to Nell Pike on March 15, 1958 and residing in Gladewater, Texas. Billy served in the Navy and was employed by Basic Energy retiring after 35 years. He loved to fish and loved his family. He was a long time member of Grace Baptist Church in Gladewater Texas and a current member of Fellowship Baptist in Kilgore, Texas. Surviving Billy is his wife Nell Cannon; son Joe Cannon and wife Elaine of Bullard, Texas; brother Clyde Cannon of Quinlan, Texas; sisters Opal and Dorothy of Gladewater, Texas. He is also survived by granddaughters: Jourdan McElhone and husband Jim of Austin, Texas; Loni Sharshel of Seattle, Washington; and grandson Heath Jones and wife Kirsty of Puyallup, Washington; great grandchildren Declan McElhone, Remi Sharshel, and Colton Jones, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. Billy Joe Cannon was preceded in death by his parents, a son Darrell (Bubba) Cannon, brothers: Bobby and Jeff Cannon, sisters: Glenda Cannon, Murriell Huddleston and a grandson Casey Jones. Serving as pallbearers are Keith Henderson, Harold Powell, Rex Pike, Glen Burns, Mike Torres and Tommy Smith with honorary pallbearers Carl Powell and Chris Powell. Visitation will be Tuesday evening May 20, 2014 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater, Texas.
