Billy Joe Young

Graveside services for Billy Joe Young, 62, of Gilmer, Texas will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Kelsey Cemetery in Upshur County, Texas with Dean Fowler and Eugene Hall officiating under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.

Mr. Young passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 and was born on February 25, 1954 in Gilmer, Texas to Lois Atchley “Buddy” Young and Frankie Young.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy and of the Baptist faith. He retired from Texas Eastman after twenty years then worked for the United States Postal Service in Henderson, Texas for ten years. Billy loved fishing, the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers. He spent his retirement years searching for arrowheads, marbles and coins.

He is survived by his loving wife of forty years, Kimlyn Young; sons, James Atchley “Jay” Young and his wife Samantha, Jacob Joe Young; sisters, Janice Jones and her husband Ernie, Shelia Roland and her husband Jerel; grandchildren, Gabriella Young, Makynlie Young, Ryleigh Young, Alyssa Young and his special nephew, Jason Roland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Buddy and Frankie Young and his brother, Terry Lee Young.

No formal visitation will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of Northeast Texas.
