Clarence Vernon Allen

Mr. Clarence Vernon Allen, age 78, of Gladewater, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2019 at his home. Clarence was born in Gladewater on August 20, 1940 to the late Virgil Lee Allen and Hazel Thelma Shamburger Allen. He graduated from Union Grove in 1959, worked for Gibson Drilling Company for 34 years, Martex in Marshall, and owned and operated Allen Welding. He enjoyed time in the great outdoors hunting and fishing the woods and lakes of Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Amy Allen Wilson; grandson, Michael Allen; brothers, Troy and Louis Allen.
Clarence is survived by his loving wife,of 34 years, Ruth M. (Parnell) Allen; daughters, Cindy Brittain and husband Paul, Janie Tucker and husband Lloyd; step-daughters, Chiquita “Carmen” Armstrong, Vickie Harrington and husband James; grandchildren, Christopher Allen, Lisa Whitlock, Krystal Guinn and husband Patrick, Jason Brittain, Kristopher Brittain, Randy Tucker and wife Victoria, Zachary Tucker, Kelli Tucker, Justin Johnson and wife Typhani; great-grandchildren, Jay McCue, Joshua David Torres, and Keely Brittain.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at Locust Grove Cemetery in Gladewater.
