Colleen Payne Cumbie Gladewater " Services for Colleen Payne Cumbie, age 76, of Gladewater will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2011, at 10 A.M. at First Baptist Church with Reverend Bailey Harris officiating. Burial will be in Gladewater Memorial Park. Born on April 25, 1935, in Broadus, Texas, she grew up in Orange, Texas, while her father supported the War effort in the Orange shipyard. She made Gladewater her home since marrying Ray Cumbie in 1953. She was a retired medical records technician for Gladewater Municipal Hospital and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler, positions she endeared. Continually striving for excellence brought her many blessings, which she paid forward by quietly sharing with others, her church, and her community. A member of First Baptist Church since 1953, she dearly loved her church family and was actively involved in all of its endeavors, including church secretary, WMU member, Sunday School teacher, and LLL Sunday School Class member. Other passions were flowers, hummingbirds, and the piano. She will be missed by her many friends. She is survived by her son, Ray Cumbie, Jr., and his fiance Laurie Gilliard and her children, all of Gladewater; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Ralph Johnson of Dallas; daughter, Mary Anne Cumbie of Cypress; 1 granddaughter, Kindra Cumbie of Arlington; brother, Wayland Payne of Orange; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and James Crump of Orange; sister-in-law, Joyce Cumbie of Magnolia; and 3 nieces, Kathy Thrailkille of Orange; Kim Alexander of Bell City, Louisiana; and Bonnie Hernandez of Orange; 4 nephews, David Payne of Orange; Paul Crump of Houston; Charles Cumbie and David Cumbie, both of Magnolia; and a host of other relatives, extended family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, W.D. and Laverne Payne, and her husband, Ray Cumbie, Sr. Pallbearers will be Bill High, Glenn Kimbley, Ralph Johnson, Jordan Hranowsky, Cody Hranowsky, and Ron Winters. Honorary pallbearer is Charles Wood. If so desired, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 144, Gladewater, Texas 75647or Beacon Hospice at Margaret"s House, 5016 Gilmer Road, Longview, Texas 75604 or Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Boulevard, Tyler, Texas 75701. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater. ". . .weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." (Psalms 30:5)
