Connie Green

GILMER – Celebration of life service for Connie Green, 67, of Bettie will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 from 12 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at Lantana Activity Center, 80 Lantana Rd. in Gilmer, Texas with Stephen Shiflet officiating. She passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 in Longview.
Connie was born on July 26, 1949 in Midland, Texas, and at the age of 9 moved with her family to the Longview area. She attended Spring Hill High School and Kilgore College where she met Eddie Green and married him on June 22, 1968. They moved to Houston and worked for Brown and Root, Anheuser-Busch and attended the University of Houston before moving to Bettie, Texas in 1972. Eddie and Connie purchased his grandfather’s store and owned and operated the country store and café from 1972 until 1995. After closing the store, Connie finished her college degree and pursued a career in insurance adjusting. She worked in many states and towns before retiring.
Connie is survived by her husband, Edsel Green, Jr. of Bettie; mother, Betty Upton of Longview; sons and daughters-in-law. Edd and Karina Green of Gilmer, Jerry and Misty Green of Longview; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Beverly Upton of Hallsville, Ricky Upton of Shreveport, LA., Paul and Mollie Upton of Longview; sister, Jean Lewis of Longview; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Rose Green of Ore City; six grandchildren, Brad Green Jaden Green, Randy Dugan, Austin Green, Levi Green and Chloe Green; two great grandchildren, Shaylee Green and James Green. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy Upton.
