Funeral services for Corey Micheal Carter 27, of Austin formerly of Gilmer will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 8, 2018, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Gilmer with Bishop Corry Pilcher conducting under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Visitation will be Thursday, March 8, 2018 12:30 P.M. until 1:30 P.M. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Corey passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018.

Corey was born May 24, 1990 in Longview, Texas to David Carter and Melissa (Francis) Ritter. Mr. Carter worked as a night auditor at the Holiday Inn in Austin, TX.

Corey is survived by his; mother, Melissa Ritter of Hallsville; parents, David Carter and wife Dana of White Oak and Jason Ritter and wife Debbie of Gilmer; brothers, Caleb Ritter, wife Taylor and son Easton of Gilmer, Noah Carter of White Oak; sisters; Kalli Ritter of Gilmer and Sophie Carter of White Oak; step-brother, Justin Beene and daughter Natalie ; grandparents, Bill and Carol Francis of Flower Mound, Don and Myra Ritter of Gilmer; grandfather, James Carter, Sr. of Gilmer; great grandmothers, Clara Francis of Burnet and Mary Anne Carter of Gilmer; aunts and uncles, Deanna Upchurch of Lake Tawakoni, Jennifer Francis of Austin, Amorette Burch and husband Greg of Gilmer, Todd Ritter of Gilmer, Josh Ritter and wife Amanda of Gilmer, Robyn Dumas and husband Vasa of Gilmer, Nicole Parker and husband Tae of Pittsburg, Lora Ritter and wife Kimberly of Longview; and companion in life, Brian Wagner of Austin.
