Funeral services for Mr. D. Vaughn "Jake" Williford, 88, of Arlington, Texas will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Larry W. Osborne officiating. Burial will follow at Chilton Cemetery in Big Sandy. Mr. Williford passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2015, in Arlington. He was born on November 22, 1926, in the Grice Community Upshur County, TX to William and Zula Davis Williford. Mr. Williford served in the U. S. Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He worked for Halliburton for 38 years before retiring as a supervisor. Mr. Williford was a Master Mason, a member of the Ft. Richardson Masonic Lodge #320 A. F and A. M and the Jacksboro Order of the Eastern Star #390 for 51 years and a member of Lake Arlington Baptist Church. He proudly served as a Deacon at the Westlake Baptist Church in Chandler. Jake"s life was based on faith, hard work, sacrifice and serving his family, friends and country. He led his life as a living example of how to serve others. He and his wife Lois dedicated their lives to raising their family and teaching them the principles of faith, honor, love and sacrifice. He shared the last ten years of his life in Arlington loving his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Linda Williford of Mansfield, TX, Gary and Yolanda Williford of Arlington, TX; brother and sister-in-law, John and Anna Williford of Breaux Bridge, LA; grandchildren, Jeremy Williford and wife Julie, Brian Williford and wife Julie, Ricky Williford, Sonia Williford-Gill and husband Patrick, Cecilia Williford-Reese and husband Preston; nine great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Williford was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 45 years, Lois Snider Williford; stepfather Otto Garrett; and three sisters. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ft. Richardson Masonic Lodge # 320 or the Jacksboro Order of the Eastern Star # 390. Both mailing addresses are 207 West St., Jacksboro, Texas 76458.
