Services for Mr. Delward C. Gage, 82, of Gladewater will be held 10:00 A.M, Friday, March 26, 2010, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Gene Glazener officiating and burial will follow at Hoover Cemetery in Upshur County, Texas. Mr. Gage passed away on Monday, March 22, 2010 in Gladewater. Delward Gage was born in a farm house on a farm one mile west of the Pritchett community center to Alfred and Mamie Bell (Marsh) Gage on January 22, 1928 and lived there until he was 18 years old. Delward started to school at Pritchett in 1934, graduated from Gladewater High School, 1945 and from Abilene Christian University in 1957 with a B. A. degree in Bible. He served our country during the Korean conflict in the U. S. Air Force. Delward obeyed the gospel at the Pritchett Church of Christ in 1951, and worked diligently in the Lord"s work until health problems slowed him down in 1976. Health problems finally controlled Delward"s life. Delward married Jean Marie Johnson on June 15, 1946 and lived with her for over 60 years until her death on August 19, 2006. Delward operated Statewide Insulation Company out of Longview for 29 years. Delward and Jean adopted five children from one family on April 28,1960, all survive except for Philip who died on February 18, 2008. Mr. Gage is survived by sons, Andy Gage of Houston, Darrell Gage and wife, Kathy of Shady Grove; daughters, Judy James of Baytown, Texas, Laura Richmond of Gilmer; daughter-in-law, Dorothy McCellon of Gilmer; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren and a host of nieces. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Pallbearers will be Ryan Tuel, William Tuel,Cody Tuel, Daniel Williams, Billy Ragain and Gary Maricle. Honorary Pallbearers are Darrell Lynn Gage, Jr. and Joey Gage. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, March 25, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.
