Dennis Michael Hettinger

Funeral Services for Dennis Michael Hettinger, age 75, of Hawkins are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Hawkins. A mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church: 1612 S. FM 2869 in Holly Lake Ranch, Rev. Mike Snider conducting. Burial will follow at the Hawkins Cemetery in Hawkins, with Cliff France, Eric Steinhauser, J.O. Owens, Bob Reynolds, Roy Amos, Jimmy Crook, Charles Boucher, and Chance Hall serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home, as well as one hour prior to the service at the church.

Dennis passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017 in Dallas. Dennis was born on June 19, 1942 in Urbana, Illinois to the late Edwin and Mary Josephine O’Neil Hettinger.
Dennis was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a former Iron Worker for Armco Steel, a maintenance worker with Austin Bank for 28 years, a former assistant manager and manager of the Little Sandy Hunting and Fishing Club in Hawkins for 28 years, and a member of the Catholic faith. Dennis enjoyed hunting and fishing, raising cattle, and was said to have never met a stranger.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Leann (Skog) Hettinger of Hawkins; sons, Derek Danielson of Hawkins, Darren Danielson and wife Jennifer of Pittsburg; sister, Margaret Collie of Vienna, Va.; three grandchildren, Allison, Madison, and Haley Danielson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, William and Edwin Hettinger.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
