Mr. Dock W. Johnson, age 79, of Gilmer, TX, passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2018 in Gilmer, TX.
Dock was born in Hainsville, TX on September 7, 1939 to the late Dock and Bessie Mae (Woods) Johnson. He was an oil field worker and member of the Glade Creek Baptist Church in Upshur County. He enjoyed traveling to national parks, gardening, working on clocks, and playing the guitar.
He married the late, Helen (Watts) Johnson on August 29, 1959, she preceded him in death in 2015; he was also preceded by his parents; sister, Nita Davis; and brothers, Pete Johnson, Troy Johnson, and Doyle Latham.
He is survived by his daughter, Arlene Smith and husband, Tim Anderson; brother, Dencel Johnson; sisters, Betty James and Beckey Yates; grandchild, Heath Davidson and wife, Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Jessica Foreman and husband, Will, Carson Jones, Chance Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, 1:00 PM at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Bro. Charles Calhoun and Bro. Wayne Norvell conducting. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Traditions Hospice of Longview, 4362 US Highway 259 N Longview, TX 75605.
