Dorothy Lee Minshew Loyd, beloved mother, "Nanny", friend, and yellow-dog democrat, ended her long-suffering battle against Parkinson's Disease on April 7, 2011. Born December 24, 1923 to Sam and Evie Minshew in the Stamps Community; member of the Gilmer High School Class of 1940; married Williard Loyd on August 22, 1940. She retired in 1990 from R.L. Polk & Co. after 35 years of service. August 16, 2006 was proclaimed Dorothy Lee Minshew Loyd Day in the City of Irving, Texas and Mayor Herbert Gears presented her with the Key to the City. Mrs. Loyd was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Survived by son Don Loyd, daughters Ann Birdsong and Nancy Loyd, daughter and son-in-law Viki and Glen Polston, 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, sister Wyoma Langford and lifelong friend Rose France. Visitation will be held April 10th from 5 PM " 7 PM at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer, Texas. Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Monday, April 11th at Croley Chapel in Gilmer. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Dorothy"s name to help Speed a Parkinson"s Cure at www.michaeljfox.org.
