Ms. Goolsby was born December 11, 1936, in Pine Mills, Texas, to Harry and Fern Hall Burns. She attended Hawkins High School, Tyler Junior College and Texas Woman’s University with a focus on education and home economics. She was a homemaker and employed at Hawkins ISD as a substitute teacher for many years. Dovie was a member of the Mineola Rebekah Lodge for over 50 years and volunteered often with the Salvation Army.
