Doyle L. Johnson

Services for Doyle L. Johnson, 84, of Gilmer will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Mr. Wayne Tolliver and Jared Green officiating. Interment will follow at Kelsey Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Mr. Johnson passed away on Friday, December 2, 2016 in Gilmer.

Mr. Johnson was born October 20, 1932 in Upshur County to the late Paul Stanley Johnson and Lorene Spann. Doyle was the retired Sherriff of Upshur County after many years of service. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting and spending time with family and friends. Mr. Johnson was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be dearly missed by all the family and friends he leaves behind.

Doyle is survived by his wife, Kay Johnson of Gilmer; son Paul Johnson of Gilmer; daughter and son-in-law Bridget and Danny Viser of Palestine; daughter-in-law LaJuanna Johnson of Gilmer; step daughters Lisa Bickerdike and Tracy Talley; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, as well as many other loving family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son Johnny Johnson, sister Pauline and grandson Kincey Johnson.

Pallbearers for the service will be Donald Bickerdike, Clemente Rodriguez, Riley Atkinson, Perry Mannis, David Powers, Joe Lynn Tillery and Jeff Williams.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Fenton, Steve Murray, Johnny Mathis, Connie Duke, Judy Murray, Gwen Fenton, Frank Breazeale, Buck Spencer and Horace Martin.
