Services for Dr. Bob Glaze, 82, of Gilmer will be held 10:00 A.M, Monday, June 28, 2010, at First Baptist Church in Gilmer with Dr. David L. Jenkins and Reverend James Price officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial with Larry W. Osborne officiating under the direction of Croley Funeral Home of Gilmer. Dr. Glaze passed away on Friday, June 25, 2010 in Gilmer. No formal visitation will be held. He was born on November 20, 1927, in Smith County, Texas, to Ben A. and Erin Shelton Glaze. Bob Glaze served in the U. S. Merchant Marines and in 1948 he married Wilma Jean Franks in Tyler, Texas. Dr. Glaze received a B. S. degree in agriculture from Sam Houston University and a Doctor of Chiropractic from Texas Chiropractic College. He was a resident in Gilmer for 60 years, a member of First Baptist Church of Gilmer, a longtime member of Gilmer Rotary Club, past president of the Yamboree Association, past president of GISD, past president of Texas Chiropractic Association, past president Gilmer Area Chamber of Commerce, former director of First National Bank of Gilmer and former member of the Texas House of Representatives. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean Glaze of Gilmer; son and daughter-in-law; Dr. Andy and Sandra Glaze of Gilmer; daughters and sons-in-law, Jeannie and Ken Smith of Gilmer; Jill and Dr. Randy McDaniel of Gilmer; brother, Ben D. Glaze of Scroggins; sisters, Sue Everett of Diana, Una Marie Green of Palestine and Freida Melvin of Jacksonville; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Dr. Adam Oliver McDaniel, Jordan Andrew Glaze, William Francis Blakeley, Michael John Walker, Ben Daniel Glaze and James W. Eitel. Honorary Pallbearers are Fellowship Bible Class of First Baptist Church and the Board of Directors of First National Bank. In lieu of flowers or other funeral remembrances please go to someone you care for and tell them that Dr. Bob told you to do something nice for them. Dad would like that.
