Estelle Hymer

On November 3, 2013, Estelle Hymer made her long anticipated journey to her new home. "This world is not my home, I"m just a passing through," was a favorite phrase of hers. Those who were waiting to welcome her were her parents, Elvie and Dora Green, her husband, Will Hymer, her first-born daughter, Linda McNeel, a baby grandson, Lonald Miller, a brother, Eugene Green, a sister, Velma Foster along with many other family and friends. Those she left behind to celebrate her life were; two daughters and sons-in law, Bonnie and Garry Miller, and Emily and Kenneth Culpepper, son-in-law, Pat McNeel, one sister, Yevon Pilcher, six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren and many other family and friends whose life she touched. Mrs. Hymer was born on June 19, 1916 at her residence in the Enon community. During her childhood years, she lived in the Enon and Rosewood communities. She met her sweetheart, Willie Hymer, and was later married by Brother Arrington, while sitting in the backseat of a borrowed car. She was a long time member of Rosewood Baptist Church where she was known as a faithful prayer warrior. At the time of her death, she was the oldest member of Rosewood Baptist Church. She was a charter member of the Rosewood WMA and she also served as the church clear for many years. Mrs. Hymer was a true picture of a godly woman. She was totally devoted to her family and prayed for them daily. A celebration of her life will be held at Rosewood Baptist Church in Upshur County on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 10am. Her nephew and pastor, Charles Johnson will be conducting the service. Another nephew and niece, Donnie Hymer and Terry Barnhill will be providing the music. Interment will follow at Rosewood Cemetery in Upshur County. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 6, from 6:00 P.M until 8:00 P.M. at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. In her last days, she spoke often about her longing to go home to be with Jesus and would welcome others to join her.
