Funeral services for Evelyn Pauline Amos, 86, of Gilmer will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Pastor Jim Wolstenholm officiating. Interment will be in the Hopewell Cemetery in Upshur County. Arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Mrs. Amos went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, December 23, 2012. Mrs. Amos was born December 9, 1926 in Upshur County, the daughter of Walter C. and Eula Mae (Hall) Young. Evelyn married Durward Walter Amos on March 1, 1944 in Upshur County. She retired in 1991 after working many years for Sears as a cashier and LaQuinta Motor Inn as co-manager with her husband. She was a charter member of the Gilmer Church of the Nazarene. Mrs. Amos" family that are cherishing the memories of her life are her husband, Durward Walter Amos, Sr.; three daughters, Gloria Kaye Morgan of Axtell, Rev. Judy Lynn Castro and husband Bob of Terrell and Barbara Sue Kennington and husband Dale of Denison; one son, Durward Walter Amos, Jr. and wife Bobbie of Gilmer; 12 grandchildren, Sheri Castro Johnson of Rosholt, SD, Angela Morgan Hudson of Rosebud, TX, Tonya Castro Cummins of Bedford, TX, Melissa Morgan Carroll of Waxahachie, TX, Kevin Ray Kennington of Sherman, TX, Gregory Kennington of McKinney, TX, Robin Castro Stephens of Dade City, FL, Karen Morgan Saucedo of Axtell, Tiffany Amos of Gilmer, Toni Kennington Hanson of Aubrey, TX, Brianna Amos of Waco, TX and Ashlee Amos of Waco, TX; 25 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and other relatives. Mrs. Amos is preceded in death by parents; one sister, Mildred Brown; an infant daughter, Cynthia Gayle Amos; and grandson, Durward Walter Amos, III. Pallbearers will be Kevin Kennington, Greg Kennington, Tim Hudson, Chris Carroll, Braden Amos and Jeremy Stephens. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
