Gaddis Lindsey

Gad was born December 22nd, 1927 in Enon, Texas to parents Tandy Clark Lindsey and Laura B. Simpson Lindsey. He attended Union Hill School, where his mother taught, riding along with her carpool. Gad played six man football for Union Hill High, playing for the Texas State Championship his senior year.

Following graduation, Gad studied radio communication at Tyler Commercial College. Still too young for the military, he joined the Merchant Marines and shared many stories with family and friends about his voyage on a ship loaded with sulfur from Galveston Bay up the east coast to Baltimore.
On becoming eighteen, Gad joined the Air Force, serving as a drill sergeant until 1949. Gad and Sally were married in 1948 and made Gilmer their home. Bringing joy to their family were two children, born in 1950 and 1952.
Gad was Chief Field Investigator for Equifax for 29 years, then was elected Upshur County Precinct One Commissioner from 1987 until retirement in 1999. During his retirement he enjoyed watching Sally tend to the yard.

Alzhiemer's Disease caught up with Gad and he died January 29, 2017.

He is survived by his wife Sally Lindsey, son Steve Lindsey and daughter Mickey Wallis; grandchildren Laura Leigh Almasadi, Scott Wallis, and Matthew Wallis, great grandchildren Zack Wallis and Dakota Wallis. He was preceded in death by his parents Tandy and Laura Belle Lindsey.
