Garland Bullock

Mr. Garland E. Bullock, 95, of Gilmer, Texas, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021, at UT Health in Tyler. Funeral service for Garland will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 19, 2021, at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer with Bro. Mike Kessler of First Baptist Church officiating. Following the service, a private burial will take place at Hopewell Cemetery. Due to COVID and reduced immunities within the immediate family, no formal visitation is scheduled. However, extended family and friends are invited to pay their respects and sign the register at a public viewing at Croley Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, from noon until 8:00 PM.
Garland was born January 31, 1926, in Latch, Texas to the late Luther and Zelma Chamberlain Bullock. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the South Pacific during WW II. He worked 30 years in the defense industry as an electrician in the manufacture of U.S. fighter jets. He was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Gilmer. He was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by daughters Rosanna Kebbell (husband Kenneth) of Claremore, Oklahoma and Melinda Cote of Galveston, Texas; niece June Shull of Gilmer; grandchildren Jared Kebbell and Caroline Kebbell (fiancé Jason Gwynn); and cousin Bocca Cagle (husband Thurman).
Garland was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Helen Bullock who passed away in 1999; and his second wife, Inita Bullock who passed away in 2011.
Garland was a great reader and lover of books. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Upshur County Library, 702 W. Tyler Street, Gilmer, TX 75644.
