Gay Antoinette Sharp

Gay Antoinette Sharp, 81, of Gladewater passed away on November 8, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater. Dr. J. Prentis McGee will be officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday prior to services from 1:00 until 2:00 pm at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater. Burial will follow the funeral at Gladewater Memorial Park cemetery.

Gay was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 15, 1936. She attended Chadsey High School, as an honors student.

She married Buck Sharp and was a successful rodeo cowgirl as a professional barrel racer.

She later in life attended Kilgore College to receive an Associates degree in Medical Lab Technology as well as becoming certified Radiology Tech. She worked for many years at the Hugman-Kent clinic in Gladewater. Her last employment was for her son, Dr. Bert Sharp for many years, and retired at age 77.
Gay is preceded in death by parents Gustav Yonkers and Frances Kubik Yonkers, and grandparents Jozef Frank Kubik and Ludwika Cyon Kubik.

“Granny Gay” is survived by son and daughter-in-law Bert and Toni Sharp, grandchildren Brett and Nathan, and many other family members, her “adopted kids,” and friends.
