Memorial Mass for Gerald "Jerry" William Turner, 66, of Gilmer, will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at 11 A.M. at St. Theresa"s Catholic Church in Gladewater with Father Hank Lanik and Father Mark Dunne officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater. Born on October 18, 1947, in Baltimore, Maryland, he died on Sunday, December 29, 2013. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam War. On November 18, 1977, he married Deborah Ann Murray in Longview. He was self-employed and especially enjoyed fishing and hunting. He leaves to celebrate his life and legacy, his wife, Deborah "Debbie" Turner of Gilmer; step-father, Donald Skelton of League City; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Michelle and Jerry Brian of Tatum; three grandchildren, Glenn Watson, Morgan Turlington, Dillon Turlington; brother, Donald B. Skelton and partner Greg Lewis of Galveston; three sisters, Elizabeth "Liz" Whitehurst and husband Tom of Corpus Christi; JoAnn Skelton of Plano; and Peggy Skelton Harrell and husband Forest of McKinney; and mother-in-law, Audrey Thayer of Gilmer; brothers-in-law, Jack Murray and wife Judy of Seminole; Jim Murray and wife Pat of San Antonio; Clay Murray and wife Carrie of Overland Park, Kansas; sister-in-law, Pam Jones and husband Bill of San Antonio; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Turner, mother, Jean Skelton; brother-in-law, Richard Murray; father-in-law, Jack Murray; and step-father-in-law, Jack Thayer. A very special thanks to Jerry"s cousin, Brenda "Bren," for all her help and support and to nurse, Michelle, and to Beacon Hospice.
