Funeral services for Geri Wetzel, 87, of Big Sandy, Texas will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer, Texas with Reverend David Thornton officiating.

Mrs. Wetzel passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017 in Gladewater. She was born on August 9, 1929 in Reed, Oklahoma to John Wesley Melton and Letha Mae Downing Melton. Mrs. Wetzel was a retired receptionist for Dean Lumber Company and a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Randall Wetzel and his wife Sandra; daughter, Charlotte Thomas; sisters, Ruby Walker, Minnie Wakefield and Lillian Railsback; grandchildren, Ronnie Dean, Tony Sustaire, Michelle Roberts, Wendy Wetzel, Amanda Forster, Desiree’ Markham, David Madrid, Steven Madrid and Paul Madred; numerous great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Letha Melton; husband, Charles Wetzel; daughters, Sandra Wetzel and Diana Wetzel and grandchild, Farah Sustaire.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer, Texas.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
