A celebration of life for Mr. J. W. Keel, age 68, of Ector, TX. will be held at 10:00 A. M. Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at the Ector Baptist Church in Ector. Eulogy will be given by Mr. Dayton Choate. Serving as pallbearers will be James Keel, Tyler Keel, Justin Keel, Jeff McCullough, Terry Woods and Tommy Thompson. Graveside services will be Thursday, September 16, 2010 at the Mattinburg Cemetery near Gilmer, TX under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Serving as pallbearers in Gilmer will be Emmett Johnson, Ronnie George, Leroy Roberts, James "Cotton" Sharp, Jay Miller & Dayton Choate. Honorary Pallbearers are Wilford Johnson and Howard Fletcher. Mr. Keel passed away Friday, September 10, 2010 at his residence. J. W. was born August 20, 1942 in Gilmer, TX the son of Walter William & Mattie Lorene Moss Keel. He married Carol Ann Griffith and was a longtime independent ice deliveryman in Dallas, TX , an avid hunter and fisherman. Survivors include his wife Carol Keel, daughter- JoLynn McCullough & husband Jeff; son James Keel and Lisa; stepson, Tommy Thompson, five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brother, Travis Keel; sister, Marie Davis; numerous nieces and nephews; family adopted brother, Cotton Sharp and sister Ann McMullen. Preceded in death by sister, Melba Fletcher. Family visitation will be held Wednesday, September 15, from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer, TX. Mr. Keel will lie in state at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham from Monday until service time Wednesday for local friends and family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718
