James Aubrey Green

James Aubrey Green 7-2-26 to 12-19-18
Born in Upshur County to James William and Eva Mae Green
He was the third born of 12 children. He was a share cropper and completed the 6th grade. He went on to serve in World War II and the Korean War. At the age of 80, he took up singing and enjoyed traveling to nursing homes in Longview and singing for the residents. He continued to sing right up until his death.
He loved taking care of his family, both immediate and extended and was called the family “caretaker” by many of them.
He is survived by his son, James Alan (Jimmy) Green, his daughter, Kay Green Reid and son-in-law Doug. Grandchildren – Adam Green and wife, Kim, Brittany Reid Hardwick and husband, Brent, Bridget Reid, Brooke Reid, and special friend, Jason Glass. Great grandchildren – Jack Green, Claire Green, Sophia Green.
He was preceded in death by spouses Bobbi Sue Green, Cleo Walker Green, and grandchildren – Sarah Green and Rebekah Green.
Graveside service for Mr. Green will be held 2:00 PM Friday, December 21, 2018 at Gilmer City Cemetery with Bro. Jeff Bethard officiating.
