James D. Allen

James D. Allen, 88, of Tyler, TX passed on to his permanent home in God’s Kingdom on January 18, 2021. Waiting impatiently at the gate was the love of his life, his wife of 68 years, Betty Allen. He was born on May 17, 1932 in Mexhoma, OK to Art and Thelma Allen. He followed his Father in the farming business until 1977 when the family moved to the Gilmer, TX area and became a ranching family. He loved to fly and he loved his church, Soules Chapel UMC.
He is survived by his children, Lynda Allen, Ft Worth, TX, Bryan Allen, Lindale, Tx and Brent Allen and wife Misty, Whitehouse, TX. Grandchildren: Jeremy Allen-Hampton and Christopher Allen.
The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer, TX.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel at Croley Funeral Home, officiated by Alan Metzel with internment at Soules Chapel Cemetery following the service.
The family would like to thank you all for your support and unending prayers. It is never easy to say goodbye to a loved one. It gives us great comfort knowing that he is in the presence of God for eternity beside his wife. May God bless each of you.
