James Eldridge Hooks

Services for James Eldridge Hooks, 86, of Lone Star will be held 11:00 A.M, Thursday, July 5, 2012, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Chad Thompson officiating and private burial will follow. Mr. Hooks was born on September 27, 1925 in the Pritchett Community to Virgil and Daphney Strange Hooks and passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2012, in Longview. He married Geneva Huddleston on September 21, 1949. Mr. Hooks served in the U.S. Army, a self-employed truck driver, a member of Masonic lodge and the VFW Lodge of Hughes Springs. Mr. Hook is survived by his adopted daughter, Charlene Irwin and husband, Leon of Lone Star, Texas; brother, Selwyn N. Hooks of Point, Texas; sister, Alma Earle Harris of Gilmer; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Geneva Huddleston Hooks; parents; brothers, Arnold L. Hooks, Armond S. Hooks, Alton R. Hooks and Billy Wayne Hooks. Honorary Pallbearers are David Brock, Ronnie Murrey, Scott Belsley, Ronnie Hooks, Danny Hooks and David Shaw.
