Janet Lea Hickman Leatherman

Janet Lea Hickman Leatherman, 68 of Winona, passed away Monday, August 2, 2021; and was welcomed into heaven by her family that has gone on before her.

Janet was born November 29, 1952 in Grapevine, Texas to the late Nick Hickman and Odie Vee Perkins. She worked for twenty plus years as a cook at the local Gladewater Dairy Queen and enjoyed the opportunity to teach and mold the young kids that she worked with. She married Michael Leatherman, January 26, 1977 and together they enjoyed spending their time together with family and friends.

Janet is survived by her grandsons, Kaiden Hansen, Jaiden Redmond, and Jaxx Redmond, sister, Cindy Ryals and fiancée, Robert of Sanford, FL; step-son, Scott McCook; nephews, Jamison Hickman and wife, Misty, Matthew Ryals and wife, Tabitha and Nicholas Ryals and Amanda; nieces, Nichole Czomba and husband, Derek, and Mindy Carroll and husband, Ted; great-nephews: Connor, Pierce, and Zane Czomba, Mikah Hickman, Brycen Ryals, Jude, Cale, and Tate Carroll, and Bennett Ryals; great-nieces, Saige Hickman and Avery Ryals and numerous extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Nick and Odie Hickman; husband, Michael Leatherman; daughter, Nikki Hansen; brother, Jimmy Hickman, and sister, Rhonda Hickman.

Graveside services for Janet will be 1:00 P.M., Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Friendship Cemetery in Gladewater. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 Noon, Saturday August 7, 2021, at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater.
