Jerry Don Richards

Mr. Jerry Don Richards age 82 of Gilmer, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at home. Jerry was born in Oklahoma on May 11, 1939 to the late Chester and Jessie Shrum Richards. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy. He owned and operated the Speedy Pantry convenience stores throughout East Texas. After retirement he was a full-time cattle rancher, which he loved and was able to do until his last moments.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Henderson of Gilmer; daughters, Lisa Alford and husband Matthew of Gilmer, Jenniffer Norman and husband Bill of Florida; nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jerry Don Richards, Jr.; a brother, Craig Richards; sisters, Linnie Weeden and Nell Sabrusala.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Simpsonville Cemetery. Services under the direction of Croley Funeral Home Gilmer.
