Funeral services for Jodie Leon Rouse, Jr., 71, of Big Sandy will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 3, 2021, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gladewater. Interment will follow at North Creek Cemetery in Leon County at 3:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Croley Funeral Home.

Jodie was born December 10, 1949 in Baytown, Texas to the late Jodie Leon Rouse, Sr. and Erma Johnnie Huggins Witt. Jodie grew up in Channelview, Texas and graduated from Channelview H.S. Jodie was of the Methodist faith and attended F.U.M.C. in Gladewater. He served in the U.S. Army in the 577th Engineering Battalion from March 4, 1968 until May 15, 1970 during the Vietnam War. Jodie worked as a Truck Driver and Heavy Equipment Operator for over 30 years in the Houston area. In 2010 he and his wife Sandra relocated to Big Sandy. He worked for Air Liquide Inc. in Longview until retirement in 2016. Even after retirement he continued to work on all types of equipment for his neighbors and friends; only charging for the cost of the parts and never for his labor or time.

Jodie was a member of the VFW Post #9296 in Houston and was very proud of his service to our country. He stayed in contact with his Engineering Battalion and those he served with. He enjoyed working on electronics and went as far as to build his own computer; that he used to chat with his friends and order whatever he needed from Amazon. Jodie enjoyed working in his shop and spending time visiting with family and friends on the back porch with his dogs Zach and Domino and cat Dumas.

Jodie is survived by his wife Sandra Rouse of Big Sandy; children Jodie Leon Rouse, III and wife Anna of Baytown and Rusty Rouse of Houston; step children Kimberly Brown of Crockett and Jeffrey Brown and wife Tiffany of Crockett; brothers Paul Rouse and wife Judy of Wolfe City and David Rouse and wife Jimmie of Wolfe City; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; special friends Scott Hewitt, Mark Cowing and Larry Dunson as well as many other loving family and friends.

Jodie is preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
