Joe Max Johnson

Services for Mr. Joe Max Johnson, 73, of Gilmer will be held 2:00 P.M, Friday, March 19, 2010, at Rosewood Baptist Church with Bro. Charles Johnson officiating and burial to follow at Rosewood Cemetery in Upshur County, Texas under the direction of Croley Funeral Home. Mr. Johnson passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 in Gilmer. He was born January 5, 1937, in Upshur County, Texas to J. R. and Florence Hymer Johnson. Mr. Johnson served in the U. S. Army and was a member of Rosewood Baptist Church. He worked at Texas Eastman for 36 years retiring as a supervisor. Mr. Johnson was a longtime member of the Harmony School Board and the Hospital Auxiliary of ETMC -Gilmer. Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Leora Johnson of Gilmer; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Donna Johnson of Gilmer; daughter, Terry Carter of Gilmer; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Charlotte Johnson of Gilmer; sister-in-law, Merle Cross of Gilmer; four grandchildren, Eric Carter, Wesley Carter and wife, Lauren, Haley Johnson and Cameron Johnson; one great grandchild, Rylee Grace Carter; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Howard Max Johnson. The family will receive friends at Croley Funeral Home on Thursday, March 18, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.
