Joe Pittman

Mr. Joe Pittman, age 85, of Gladewater, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 13, 2019. Joe was born in Bowie, Texas on September 9, 1934 to the late Walter and Ethel Emfinger Pittman. He married the former, Junie Odessa Thornburgh in Grand Saline in 1953. He worked as a floor-hand in the oil fields of East Texas, with Ranger Well Service, Caddo Well Service and several others over his many years in the industry. He was a member of the former Gladewater Church of God.

Joe loved to fish, tend his vegetable gardens, play dominoes especially 42, spend time with his family and most especially his great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Charlie Pittman, Douglas Wayne Pittman; grandsons, Josh Pittman, Kyle Murray; great-grandson, Zackery Pittman; daughters-in-law, Mary Lou Pittman, Tammy Gail Pittman; three brothers, and five sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mrs. Junie Pittman of Gladewater; sons, Marty Robin Pittman of Gladewater, Elvis Pittman of Gladewater, Richard Pittman and wife Jean of Gilmer; daughters, Kathy Murray and husband Keith of Gladewater, Carolyn Sasser and husband David of Big Sandy, Wanda Harness and husband Keith of Gilmer; brother, James Pittman and wife Becky of Tyler; sister, Martha Crowell of Tyler; twenty-two grandchildren, forty-four great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Croley Funeral Home of Gladewater. A funeral service will be held under the pavilion at Gladewater Memorial Park at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 with Bro. William Carnley officiating. Services under the direction of Croley Funeral Home of Gladewater.
