Memorial service for Mr. John C. MacIvor, 90, of Holly Lake Ranch, TX will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, March 23, 2019, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Hawkins, TX with Bro. Randal Hodges officiating. Mr. MacIvor passed away on Saturday March 16, 2019 at his home in Holly Lake Ranch.
John was born June 29, 1928, in Detroit, MI to the late William and Barbara (MacBeth) MacIvor. He was a veteran who served honorably for 10 years in the United States Navy just prior to beginning his career in law enforcement as a Deputy Sheriff of San Bernardino County, CA. Quickly rising through the ranks, John attained the position of Chief of Police for Littleton, CO, and through his dedication and loyalty he received Littleton’s “Public Servant of the Year” award for 1969. Moving forward in his career John was appointed as Director of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI). John continued to hold numerous high-ranking positions which led him to Dallas in 1976 when he proudly accepted the position as Special Agent for the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). John then moved on to be the Regional Inspector General for the Department of Education, overseeing a five-state region. John served his country and the law enforcement community with integrity and honor, which were his trademarks his entire life.
John is survived by his son, Rob Roy MacIvor and his wife, Carol of Albuquerque, NM; daughters, Heather Ruth MacIvor of Holly Lake Ranch, Jody Wall and her husband, Tom of Forney, TX; brother, David MacIvor of Klamath Falls, OR; grandchildren, Robyn Bucher and her husband, Stephen, Duncan MacIvor, Hunter Wall, Ashley Wall; and great grandchildren, Isaiah and Josiah Bucher, Gavin Wall and his forever furbaby “Girl”.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Dolores MacIvor; mother, Barbara MacIvor; and sister, Barbara Gibbas.
