Obituary for Johnie Edward "PaPa" Hammond
Funeral services for Johnie Edward “PaPa” Hammond, 66, of Hillsboro, Texas, formerly of Hawkins, will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2018 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Hawkins. Johnie went to be with our Lord and Savior on December 3, 2018.
Johnie was born June 29, 1952 in Hawkins, Texas to the late George Norfelt Hammond and Donna Lee Henderson Hammond. Johnie was retired from the City of Commerce in Commerce, Texas. He graduated from Big Sandy High School and served on the Big Sandy City Council for a period of time. Johnie’s greatest joy was being “PaPa” to his grandchildren. He liked to watch old westerns on T.V. and take short road trips. He will be truly missed by all those he leaves behind to cherish his memory.
Johnie is survived by Doris Bailey, known as “Grandma”, who was always there for him. She was best friend above all other titles; son John Hammond and wife Elizabeth of Gilmer; step-son Bryan Bailey and wife Marty of Hillsboro; step-daughter Shannon Gray and husband David of Hillsboro; grandchildren John Luke Hammond, Bailey Renee Hammond, LaCrista Brookshire and husband Casey, Bryson Barrett, Madison Barrett, Kyan Barrett, Katie Bailey, Abbey Bailey and Chelsey Bailey; great grandchildren Cayden Brookshire and Liam Brookshire as well as many other loving family and friends.
Johnie is preceded in death by his parents George Hammond and Donalee and Kimball Wilder; brother Kenneth Hammond; sister Ruby Alexander and the mother of his children Barbara Nolan.
