Graveside service for Mrs. Johnnie Faye Bowden, 90, of Gilmer will be held 2:00 P.M, Saturday June 30, 2018, at Floyd Cemetery with Bro. Mike Kessler officiating. Mrs. Bowden passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2018 in Longview.

Johnnie Faye was born on March 26, 1928 in Upshur County to Willie and Lillian Watts Starr. She married Ernest Bowden in 1943 after WWII and lived in Gilmer all her life. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Gilmer. Mrs. Bowden worked at JB Whites, Marshall’s, Perry’s, Cook Florist and Bowden Floral. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, playing dominoes and reading.

Mrs. Bowden is survived by her sons, Ronnie Bowden and his wife, Linda of Gilmer and Donnie Bowden and Sherry of Longview; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Chaney; six grandchildren, Chris Bowden and his wife Stacy of Gilmer, Stacy Holley and husband Billy of Frisco, Mandi Carpenter of McKinney, Nikki Bowden of Gilmer, Melissa Pyle and husband Ray of Gilmer, Donna Rawlings and husband, Lee of Addington, OK.; 11 great grandchildren, Kyle Bowden and wife, Kate, Kaylee Fyffe, Kane Schuler, Jacob Holley, Noah Holley, Carter Carpenter, Cody Collier, Wesley Pyle, Jimmy Don Ritter and wife, Ashley, Lindi Wilson and husband Evin and Samantha Horner; four great great grandchildren, Hadley Bowden, Bodie Bowden, Denver Wilson and Baby Kyle Ritter due in September. She is also survived by her long-time friend, Betty Ann Clark; sister-in-law, Brenda Bowden and brother-in-law, T. J. Bowden.

Mrs. Bowden was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest; infant son, James; sister, Beatrice Starr Walker; brother, Willie Lee Starr and great granddaughter, Avery Grace Holley.

Family requests memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Gilmer, 217 W. Cass St, Gilmer, Texas 75644.
