Obituary for Johnnie Yocom

Johnnie Mae Brown Yocom passed away March 18, 2020 peacefully with family by her side.
Johnnie was born May 10, 1919 in the Simpsonville area. She married Cody R. Yocom on May 15, 1937 and was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church, Gilmer.

“MawMaw”, as most knew her, will be missed greatly. She was a resident at Wesley Oaks in Gilmer for many years. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the special people that cared for and loved her during this time.

Mrs. Yocom is survived by a daughter, Jane Yocom Davis and husband, Phillip L. Davis of Gilmer and daughter-in-law, Betty Lou Yocom of Holly Lake. She also leaves behind numerous “mean-as-ever”, loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceding “MawMaw” in death were husband, Cody R. Yocom, son, Sherwin B. Yocom, son and daughter-in-law Richard and Nell Yocom, and two great grandchildren, Cheyenne Green and Zachary Schoon.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Wesley House/Wesley Oaks at 231 Quail Drive, Gilmer, TX 75645.
