Graveside services for Johnny Ray Merrell, Sr. 51, of Winnsboro will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, May 30, 2014, at Shady Grove Cemetery in Upshur County, Texas with Keith Moody officiating under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 29, 2014, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Johnny was born on August 25, 1962, in Gilmer to Arthur Merrell and Mary Gray Merrell. He passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2014, in Longview. Johnny was a self-employed mechanic. He is survived by his father, Arthur Merrell of Winnsboro; son, Johnny Merrell, Jr. and wife, Ashton of Tahlequah, Ok.; daughter, Jamie Harder and husband, Van of Hallsville; brother, Tommy Merrell of Longview; sister, Linda Evers of Hallsville; 4 grandchildren, Brooklyn Merrell, Brayden Harder, Cayden Merrell and Carson Harder. Johnny was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Gray Merrell.
