Jon Bruce Pitman

Services for Jon Bruce Pitman, 72, of Gilmer, will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at East Mountain Baptist Church with Dr. Tim Smith officiating under the direction of Croley Funeral Home of Gilmer. Interment will be in the Gilmer City Cemetery. Mr. Pitman passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2012, in a Longview hospital He was born on January 12, 1940, in Gilmer, Texas to Carl H. and Tina Allen Pitman. Mr. Pitman was a member of the East Mountain High School Graduating Class of 1958, a retired machinist with Lone Star Steel and Continental Can Company, was an active farmer, and loved to travel during his 20 years of retirement. He was a member of the Ore City Masonic Lodge #1364 A.F. & A.M., very active member and a Deacon of the East Mountain Baptist Church. Mr. Pitman is survived by his wife of 50 years Sherian Pitman of East Mountain; daughters and son-in-laws Christi and Randal Smith of Gladewater and Juliana and Fred Collie of Arlington; grandchildren, Holly Sanders, Eric Smith, Emily Collie and Kayci Collie; great-grandchildren, Melody Sanders, Baylee Sanders, Bradyn Sanders and Bentley Smith; grandson-in-law, Bobby Sanders; and several cousins. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, November 5, 2012, at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Memorial contributions may be made to the East Mountain Baptist Church 315 East Mountain North, Gilmer, Texas 75645.
