Joyce Erickson

Joyce was born February 06, 1935 in Gladewater, Texas to the late Coy McEachern and Ernestine Mullin McEachern. Joyce graduated high school from Gladewater High School in 1953 and continued her education by earning a degree from East Texas State University in 1956. Mrs. Erickson began her career working with children. She was an English teacher in Midland Odessa, a teacher in Gladewater and furthered her love for children by working for the State of Texas child Protective Service until she retired.

Mrs. Erickson was an inspiring, loving, caring mother and person. She was an avid tennis player, a pillar of the community and member of the First United Methodist Church in Gladewater, Texas.

She is survived by her son Jon Erickson and wife Judy of Longview, Texas; Daughter Ann Erickson Holland of Gladewater, Texas; Grandchildren Kylie Erickson of San Angelo, Cameron Erickson of Georgetown, Texas and Sebastian Holland of Gladewater, Texas; Nephews Blane Adams of Birmingham, Alabama, Bob McEachern of Dallas, Texas, John McEachern of Missouri; Great nieces Corrie Bishop of Grand Prairie and Lindsey Adams of Birmingham, Alabama, former son-in-law Sean Holland; Brother-in-law Jerry Adams as well as many other loving family and friends.

Mrs. Erickson is preceded in death by her parents Coy and Ernestine McEachern, Brother Nathan McEachern, Sister Peggy Adams and nephew Russ Adams.

The family request that in lieu of flowers for donations be made to Heartsway Hospice or a new teddy bear for a child in foster care. Please bring teddy bears to Mrs. Erickson’s Celebration of Life, Thursday evening.
