Mrs. Katharine “Kay” Ligon, age 80, of Holly Lake Ranch, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2020, at UT Health Center in Tyler. Kay was born in Austin on August 24, 1940. She and her husband, David Ligon, shared over 40 years of marriage together. She was a devoted homemaker, talented seamstress and an exceptional cook. Kay also enjoyed many years working in child care and child education. She enjoyed reading, volunteer work, playing golf with her friends and bass fishing. She and David are former members of the Grapevine Anglers Bass Club where Kay won Lady Angler of the Year three times during the 1980’s. For a number of years, she was a member of the the Gloryland Singers Choir at Green Acres Baptist Church in which she toured across the country singing, and later sang in the Trinity Choir at Holly Brook Baptist Church. Kay was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Jean and Gene Long; daughter, Debi Sanders; father, Leroy Garner.

She is survived by her loving husband, David Ligon; children, Pat Rehders and husband Joe, Brent Casey, Will Ligon and fiancé Jennie, Wendy Day and husband Andy; sister, Susan Allen and husband Walter; son-in-law, Royce Sanders Sr; four grandsons, four granddaughters, two great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter.

Services will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 beginning with a visitation from 12:30 until 1:30 PM at Croley Funeral Home of Hawkins, followed by a graveside service at 2:00 PM at Holly Tree Chapel Cemetery in Holly Lake Ranch, Texas.
