Leonard Carr Gladewater " Memorial services for Leonard Carr, devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, will be 10 A.M. Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater. Visitation will be 6-8 P.M. today, September 13, 2011, at the funeral home. Leonard Carr was born in Amarillo, Texas, in 1955. As a young man, he traveled from coast to coast working. In 1982, Leonard settled in Longview, Texas, where he met Linda, whom he married in 1994. Leonard was the love of Linda"s life. Linda will always cherish the unconditional love they shared. Leonard "Poppa" is survived by his wife, friend, and soulmate, Linda; daughter, Suzanne Barlow, her husband, Mike, and grandsons, Dylan and Kalen; daughter, Bonnie Moore, her partner Christy, and grandsons, Lucas and Landry; sisters-in-law, Barbara Thompson and Judy Carr; brother-in-law, Jimmie Mosley; nieces and nephews, Tracy Brown and son, Big Dylan, Clint Brown and son, Alex, Candace and Jonas Couch and sons, Jake and Zach, Tawnie Mosely fianc", Michael Hall, and son, Jonathan, and a host of nieces and nephews who reside in Alabama. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Louise and J.D. Carr; and his brother, Sam Carr. By day, Poppa was a skilled construction superintendent for Transit Company owned by Mike Smith and Mike Tucker. While Smith and Tucker served as Leonard"s bosses, he saw them both as friends first. By night, he was a man who loved to watch the grandkids and nephews play ball. He cherished watching all the boys grow into young men and found tremendous joy in their happiness. Poppa was a gentle giant who would be the first to sit quietly with anyone he saw in need, but also the first to have a prank or joke waiting in the wings. He and Linda loved the beach. Every year he would save his vacation for him and Linda to take a special trip to the sun, sand and casino. Thankfully, this year he took his beach vacation with his 19 family members, including all of his grandkids and nephews. Poppa has moved on to be with his Father, Jesus Christ. There is no doubt he is watching over his family and will never miss a game!
