Lou Hewitt

Lou was born December 26, 1940 to the late Elmo Floyd Parsons, Sr. and Dorothy (Loftis) Parsons. Lou worked for Gladewater Municipal Hospital and retired from University of Texas Health Center. She along with her husband Lewis were the owners of Hewitt’s Farm Supply until their retirement.


Lou and Lewis were married for 58 years. She was the true matriarch of her family and a loyal friend to so many. Lou is known for her flair of style and witty spirit. Her greatest pleasured was spending time with her family and friends and making her house and yard lovely. Her two grandchildren affectionately called her Mimi.


Lou was a devoted mother to son Scott Hewitt and wife Veronica of Pritchett; and daughter Angie Hewitt of Pritchett; sister Darlene Steadman and husband Lloyd of Mineola; brother Elmo Floyd Parsons, Jr. of Gladewater; grandchildren Courtney DeBord and husband Josh, and Connor Hewitt and fiancé Ashtyn; and a great grandchild Jhett (the apple of her eyes).


Memorial service for Lula Mae (Lou) Hewitt, 81 of Pritchett, TX will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer, TX with Phil Fowler and David Thornton officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the time of service. Lou died peacefully September 26, at a Tyler hospital with family at her side. In lieu of flowers, contribute to the Humane Society or Shriners; Shriners Hospitals for Children Attn: Processing Center, PO Box 947765, Atlanta, GA 30394.


She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Lewis and a special niece, Kim Steadman Evans.


Private burial will be at Chilton Cemetery in Big Sandy. Lou will forever be missed and her memory cherished.
