Graveside services for Martin Buchanan, 90, of Gilmer will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at Hopewell Cemetery in Upshur County, Texas with Reverend Donnie Chamberlin officiating. Mr. Buchanan passed away Saturday, January 22, 2011 in a Gilmer nursing home. Mr. Buchanan was born March 2, 1920 in Carthage, Texas to John and Martha Goodson Buchanan. He was a retired forklift driver for Gilmer Pottery, a veteran of the United States Army during World War II, and a member of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law: Mickey Martin and Lynn Buchanan, Dickey Wayne and Margie Buchanan, and Don Buchanan; daughter and son-in-law: June Ellen and Lorece Phillips; brother: Doyle "Pete" Buchanan; Sister: Irene Wallace; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife: Jessie Mae Buchanan, parents, brothers: George Buchanan, Buddy Buchanan, Roger Buchanan, and Earnest "Ebo"Buchanan; sisters: Luner Mae Lay and Gertrude Brookshire.
