Mary Alice Pitman Davis

Services for Mrs. Mary Alice Pitman Davis, 93, of Gilmer will be held 3:00 P.M, Saturday, April 3, 2010, at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Ferel Little officiating and interment to follow at Gilmer City Cemetery. Mrs. Davis passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2010 in Gilmer. Born on January 21, 1917 to Henry E. and Liza Mae Hill Pitman in Upshur County, she graduated from Gilmer High School. Mrs. Davis married Emmett Orris Davis on August 12, 1939 and he preceded her in death. She was employed with Bealls Dept Store until her retirement and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Gilmer. Mrs. Davis is survived by her son James T. Davis and daughter-in-law Jan Williamson of Smithland, Texas; daughter, Betty McMillan and her husband, Larry of Maud, Texas, Elaine Baker and her husband, Jim of Harleton; grandchildren, Jamie Baker of Washington, DC. Cullen Mayfield of Harleton, TX, Trace McMillan and his wife Amber of Keller, TX; one great grandchild, Ryann Paige McMillan; her canine companion of many years "Dollie" ; her companions and caregivers for the past two years, Emma Smith and Helen Simon. The Family would like to thank Beacon Hospice and Dr. Margaret Schottstaedt for the loving care given to our mother and grandmother.
